1. Southern Border

a. Impact on U.S.:

1) the numbers

Since the beginning of 2021:

U.S. Rep. Keith Self email newsletter dated 2-17-24

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/million-migrants-border-biden

  • There were almost 2.5 million encounters at the SW border in FY23.

https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/stats/nationwide-encounters

(Some evidence indicates the actual total number since 2021 is between 10 to 20 million!)

  • Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported less than 5% of all migrants encountered at US borders.

2) depleting resources

The FAIR study, released in March ‘23, documented the financial toll of illegal immigration on the U.S., considering emergency medical care, incarcerating illegal aliens in local jails, and federal budgets that pay out billions in welfare every year, sets the net annual cost at $150.7 billion.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/illegal-immigrants-entered-us-biden-took-office-cost-taxpayers-20-billion-year-analysis

3) increasing crime

So far in FY2023, CBP has arrested 35,433 aliens with criminal convictions or outstanding warrants nationwide, including 598 known gang members, 178 of those being MS-13 members..

https://homeland.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/September-Startling-Stats.pdf

4) drugs trafficking epidemic

In FY2023, CBP, including Air and Marine Operations, has seized 27,293 pounds of fentanyl, coming across the Southwest border—enough to kill around 6 billion people. • Total CBP fentanyl seizures in FY2023 increased 88% compared to FY2022. • Federal officials estimate only 5-10% of all illegal drugs smuggled across the Southwest border are seized due to inadequate CBP numbers.

https://homeland.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/September-Startling-Stats.pdf

Recently, a single bust contained 469 million doses, enough to kill all of North, Central, and South America!

https://www.actforamerica.org

5) national security

In FY2023, 169 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border between ports of entry. 18 were apprehended in September alone. • FY2023 represents a 72% increase from FY2022 for apprehensions of individuals on the terrorist watchlist and is the most on record.

https://homeland.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/September-Startling-Stats.pdf

Additionally, Border patrol agents encountered a record high 7,581 Chinese military-aged men in December, while the total since January 2023 now stands at 64,979.

At the beginning of the current fiscal year, Chinese people were the fourth-highest nationality crossing the Darién Gap between Colombia and Panama and heading north toward the United States. Are they all here for a better life, or are many under control of CCP? What are we setting ourselves up for?

6) human trafficking

The U.S. Department of State estimates that 14,500 to 17,500 people are trafficked into the United States each year.

https://www.aclu.org/documents/human-trafficking-modern-enslavement-immigrant-women-united-states

In the United States alone, roughly 17,000 men, women, and children are trafficked from different parts of the world, and the primary access to the US is through the southern border. There is no reliable, accurate data on how many people are trafficked into the US yearly because many incidents are not reported. Assuming that the real numbers are double those reported, the number of cases is staggering.

https://conventionofstates.com/news/human-trafficking-at-the-southern-border

Studies done by the Latin American branch of the Coalition Against Trafficking In Women estimates that 60% of Latin American children who set out to cross the border alone or with smugglers have been caught by the cartels and are being abused in child pornography or drug trafficking.

7) diluting the votes U.S. citizenry

Immigration experts are concerned about the impact of illegal immigration on states’ representation in the House of Representatives and Electoral College. President Biden’s executive order includes noncitizens in the census count, affecting apportionment of House seats and electoral votes. With an estimated 16.8 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., their inclusion affects House seat allocation. Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, said, “Illegal immigration has all kinds of effects and among them is that it distorts the mechanics of democratic government,”

https://cis.org/Report/Impact-Legal-and-Illegal-Immigration-Apportionment-Seats-US-House-Representatives-2020

https://www.politifact.com/article/2024/mar/25/more-immigrants-equal-better-odds-for-democrats-af

The concerns raised about the Arizona Secretary of State’s Election Procedures Manual (EPM) allowing non-citizens to register as “federal-only” voters and potentially vote in the 2024 presidential election are significant. The potential loophole in the system, as highlighted by legal experts and officials, raises serious questions about the integrity of the electoral process and the potential impact on election outcomes. The issue stems from the federal voter registration form not requiring documentary proof of citizenship, in contrast to Arizona state law, which mandates such proof for voter registration.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/growing-concerns-that-illegal-migrants-could-influence-2024-outcome/ar-BB1i2Q1Q

More recently it has been acknowledged that they intend to register illegal aliens to vote in the 2024 presidential election.

b. Impact on illegal migrants (Flinging our borders wide open isn’t doing any favors to the illegals either!)

1) costs/hardships enroute

The United States-Mexico border is the world’s deadliest land route for migrants, with at least 686 deaths and disappearances last year, the UN migration agency (IOM) said on Tuesday.

https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/09/1140622

Bribes and shakedowns. Days in hideaways without food. For many fleeing violence in Central
America, this is what thousands of dollars gets them on the journey to the United States.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/06/30/world/smuggling-illegal-immigration-costs.html

In a statement to Newsweek, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported prices range from a hundred to a few thousand dollars for Mexican nationals, from $8,000 to $10,000 for Central Americans, and from as high as $15,000 to more for people coming from Brazil or Ecuador.

2) sexual violence

Rape Trees” are trees where drug and human traffickers hang the undergarments of women and girls whom they’ve violently raped. The trees serve as a kind of trophy display, or even a challenge, to other gang and cartel members. Amnesty International reports that some 60% of all women and girls trafficked north to be brought over the open U.S.-Mexican border are raped along the way. Parents send their girls off with ‘morning after’ pills, knowing perfectly well this is what will happen to them.

Hundreds of asylum-seekers have been sexually assaulted and violated while trying to cross the treacherous Darién Gap jungle of Panama while enroute from Colombia to the Southwest border, according to a new report by Doctors Without Borders. The nonprofit, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), reports treating nearly 400 victims of sexual violence so far this year in the Darién Gap — a 60-mile stretch of mountainous jungle linking Colombia in South America to Central America.

3) human trafficking

Those who cannot make payments, the U.N. writes, may fall victim to human trafficking that can include forced labor, sex slavery, and organ harvesting.

4) hardships/ disillusionment on arrival

Refugees, and immigrants especially, are faced with many barriers once they arrive on our shores.

c. Impact on countries traversed.

e. Contrasting Border Policies: Former vs. Current Administrations

1) Numbers

The December [2023] total so far is up an astonishing 262% from December 2020, the final month of the former president — and eclipses the previous monthly record set in September, when 269,735 migrants were encountered, according to CBP statistics.
https://capsweb.org/border-security/record-number-of-illegal-border-crossings-to-close-out-2023/

2) Policy

Former president: In 2019, the administration implemented the MPP (Migrant Protection Protocols) or “Remain in Mexico” policy, which, as the name implies, forced hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers to remain in Mexican territory while they received a response to their immigration applications.

Current president: During his first days in office, he suspended the MPP program and later permanently rescinded it, stating that it goes against the US’ values. However, in August 2021, a federal judge ordered the administration to reinstate the MPP policy, a decision that was upheld by the Supreme Court.

3) Border Wall –

Former president: One of the pillars of Trump’s political campaign was the idea of building a border wall between the US and Mexico to curb mass irregular migration. His administration managed to build approximately 47 miles of border wall.

Current president: As one of his first actions as president of the US, Biden signed a presidential proclamation ordering the immediate termination of Trump’s border wall construction, explaining that there are other environmentally friendly and less invasive alternatives to address irregular migration.
https://www.motionlaw.com/report-differences-between-trump-and-biden-border-policies/

This administration has been selling off materials that were supposed to be used to construct barriers at the border with Mexico just days before it approved the construction of a new, 20-mile stretch of border wall. He added that the money for the wall had been appropriated in 2019 before he took office, and though he attempted to get the funding redirected, Congress had refused.
https://www.newsweek.com/joe-biden-border-wall-material-auctions-new-wall-approval-1832711

No new legislation is needed to reverse his termination of the border wall.

Texas: “Texas will keep taking historic action to protect our state—and our nation—from Biden’s disastrous open border policies,” Abbott said.

f. Migration Path Infrastructure

  • Complex infrastructure has been set up on migrant paths throughout So. and Central America by United Nations, Catholic Charities, and other NGOs.
  • Ironically, the major funder of most of these is the U.S. through the U.N.

https://tuckercarlson.com/uncensored-michael-yon-border-invasion

  • While taxpayers are being told that local law enforcement and the National Guard are working to resolve the crisis, in reality, they’re being used to funnel migrants to networks of non-governmental organizations, who then traffic them for resettlement throughout the country.
